How it works
From customer details to screening results
Start with the subject you need to check, select the relevant sources and review the information returned.
-
Supply identifying details
Enter the person or business details required for the selected check. Include additional identifying information where supported to help distinguish between subjects with similar names.
-
Run the selected checks
Choose the relevant screening sources and submit the check. Keep the scope of the search clear so your team understands what the results cover.
-
Assess the findings
Open potential matches and compare the available source information with your customer details. Identify what supports the match and what needs further enquiry.

Screening results
Understand each potential match
A similar name is a starting point for review. Assess the available identifying details and source information before deciding whether a finding relates to your customer.
Compare the identifying details
Check the information available in the source record against the details you hold. Look for supporting information, differences and gaps that need further investigation.
Understand the source
Consider which list returned the finding and what that record represents. Keep sanctions listings, PEP records and other watchlist findings distinct in your assessment.
Identify the next step
Use the findings to inform further enquiry, escalation or your documented review. The screening result supports the assessment; your organisation determines the action.
Ongoing screening
Keep screening current as records change
Customer information and watchlist records can change after an initial check. Use ongoing screening to revisit relevant sources and assess later findings alongside your earlier review.
In WatchEye, configured monitors run on a schedule. New findings can create Events for your team to review.
- Select the checks relevant to the customer.
- Confirm the available screening schedule.
- Review later findings in the context of previous results.
A source's update frequency and your screening schedule are separate. Confirm both when planning ongoing checks.

Review context
Keep findings and review context together
A useful review explains what was found, how it was assessed and what happened next. Keep the source information and your review reasoning connected so another team member can understand the decision.
WatchEye provides notes and audit information to support review work. Use these alongside your organisation's procedures for recording actions and follow-up.

What is watchlist screening?
Watchlist screening compares supplied person or business details with selected sources to identify potential matches. The returned information helps your team assess whether a finding relates to the subject and whether further review is needed.
Which sources are included?
Coverage depends on the selected screening service and sources. Use the coverage section to explore the confirmed inventory, then discuss any specific list or jurisdiction requirements before setting up your checks.
What details are needed to run a check?
Required fields depend on the subject and selected check. Supply the identifying information requested by the service and include additional details where supported. The setup discussion can confirm the fields required for your access route.
Does a potential match confirm the customer is the listed person?
No. Compare the available source details with the customer information you hold. A similar name alone may not establish that the record relates to the same person.
What does a result with no matches mean?
It means the check returned no matches within its search scope. Consider the supplied information, selected sources and settings when interpreting the result. It does not establish that the customer has no risk or that no relevant information exists elsewhere.
How often are sources updated and checks repeated?
Source updates depend on the publisher and data service. Repeat checks depend on the monitoring configuration. Confirm the available source information and screening schedules for the service you intend to use.
How does watchlist screening differ from adverse media screening?
Watchlist screening checks selected lists and structured records. Adverse media screening examines published reporting. They provide different types of information and can support the same customer review.
Can screening be integrated into our own systems?
Supported checks are available through API access. Confirm the endpoints and returned fields required for your application, including any separate requirements for ongoing monitoring and review.
